Why join a “charity ride” in Morocco?Peter explains; “For several years now, I have been moved by the response of many of our clients as they see the hardships of rural life in Morocco. As we take them out on bike tours to the more rural areas of Morocco, and they observe the challenges of small farming communities that are dependant on regular rain for their livelihood, there is often a real sense of frustration, when there is no appropriate or meaningful response to be made."
That is the background from where the initial vision for this ride came.
What is the Village of Hope?Their vision is to establish a home for orphaned and unwanted children up to the age of 18 years. The facility will become a permanent home for the children. The Village of Hope will seek to provide these children with food, clothing, shelter, and personal care by adult foster parents.
During his first visit to Morocco in 1994, Peter spent one week at a children’s home in the same area as VoH. When we heard that the project at Ain Leuh was being regenerated, we were keen to get involved, and between 2001 and 2004, we spent time there each summer helping out in a practical way. It is because of this personal involvement that we are bringing Wilderness Wheels groups to the Village of Hope from Summer 2009.

www.voh-ainleuh.org Where are the funds going? We recognize the benefits of raising funds for a specific need within a project, and so, after consultation with the Director of the Village of Hope, he indicated that an increasing need for the project will be the expansion of their educational facilities.
There are currently 39 children in the school, just under half of whom are from the local community. They plan to develop the educational facility to take 200 children, of this 25 % will be Village of Hope resident children and the other 75% will be from the local community. In time, this will see 2 Pre-School classes with 6 Classes from grade 1 to 6 at full capacity, giving them a total of 8 primary school classes. They will also proceed with the children's education beyond primary school following a Moroccan Curriculum.
How will the funds be raised?
The price we are charging for the ride has already been discounted by over 10%. That is our encouragement for those committing to join us.
We suggest 500 euro (£400) as a reasonable target for riders to raise.
We hope that by enthusing your friends, colleagues and neighbours of the value of the project, this figure might be exceeded.
How does the money get to VoH?There are two options for getting your charity money to the VoH project.
Option 1: Pay direct to VoH through their Paypal account. Details their website.
Option 2: Transfer it directly to their bank account, either in Morocco or the Netherlands.
An individual receipt for gifts will be available during our visit to the Village of Hope, if required.
